Verbatim 8GB Store ‘n’ Go USB HD
by Charlie White
The Verbatim 8GB Store ‘n’ Go USB HD ($199, 4GB model is $129) contains a tiny 1-inch hard disk, and is similar to the company's previous models in its Store ‘n’ Go line of portable disk drives. However, on the outside the drives sport a completely new and improved form factor that’s designed to take a beating, an important attribute when choosing a hard disk-based storage device like this one over a flash-based solid state drive. And, the disk drive inside can read and write fast enough to actually load applications and use them without affecting the host PC.

Jimi iPod nano Case
This two-piece rigid plastic shell fits snugly around the nano. It comes in six colors, and best of all, it's made from 100% recycled plastic and the company donates 1% of their profits to environmental initiatives. $19.95 direct from Jimi.
The Honda Fit
The Honda Fit is so cool, small, and safe, you'll have a fit when you see it. For $16,000 you get cruise control, five-speed automatic transmission, spoiler, 109 hp engine and a 160-watt sound system. Plus it has side curtain air bags and antilock brakes. It's a very small, brand new version from Honda, whose Civic is a great car but it's a little too big for some people. Should be available on April 20.
Bada Beam
Bada beam cat toy will keep your feline happy for hours, or at least 10 minutes at a time. This device projects a red laser dot on the floor spinning around and causing your cat to go in a tizzy chasing it around. We have one at the Coolness Roundup Central Division and our cat Zoe loves it. It stops automatically, and when it does she lets us know she wants more.
Dell 2407WFP 24 inch UltraSharp Monitor
Similar to the 24-inch Dell monitor I've raved about, this 1920x1200 monitor has a faster 6-millisecond response time, and also has HDCP copy protection on board so you can use it as a TV, too. Beautiful new design, spectacular display, and available soon, it should be $1300. By the way, if you want a 24-inch Dell UltraSharp display that's almost as good, the old model 2405FPW is now on sale for $799 at Dell's web site.
Air-X Personal Wind Turbine
Get off the grid with your own wind powered turbine. This $500 carbon fiber composite blade is designed to perform at optimum effiency with winds at 28 mph and will drop rotation if wind speed exceed 48mph to limit the noise the turbine generates. The Air-X Personal Wind Turbine can generate 400 watts of power and recharge the batteries powering your house. If you live in windy parts of the country (like western Kansas) check this out.
Samsung Q35 Notebook
The Samsung Q35 laptop has a 12.1-inch 1200x800 widescreen display and it will have a brand new Intel Core Duo T2700 processor inside running at 2.33 GHz. It's got an onboard DVD burner, and an 80GB disk. Should be around $1700, but it won't be available until July. |
