Think Outside’s BoomTube Portable Speaker System
by Charlie White
Think Outside, Inc. is a company that got its start making small foldable keyboards for PDAs. Now it's released the Stowaway BoomTube H2O1 ($155), a portable speaker system that at first appears like a 2 1/2 foot-long pipe. Upon closer inspection, there are two volume controls on top and two small speakers that detach from either side, turning into a small subwoofer with two satellites. We plugged our iPod nano into the BoomTube and gave these little speakers an extensive audition using both battery power and the included AC adapter. Read More
Podcasting with iChat
by Stephen Schleicher
One of the great things about creating podcasts with GarageBand 3 is the ability to record multiple people at once. IXOS iPod Round Sound Stereo System
Here’s a powered system that’s packing four speakers and is compatible with all iPods (except for the lowly shuffle). Besides its striking good looks, it’s cheap -- $87. And with those four speakers inside, it at least has a shot at sounding good, too.
The Glo Leash
The worst thing in the world is when your dog needs to go out and do his business in the dark. We’ve heard of all sorts of accidents where person and pet get hit because they can’t be seen. The Glo Leash is a super bright LED leash that will ensure you will be seen in the wee hours.
Joby Gorillapod
Here's an unusual $22 mini-tripod that can secure that digital camera or camcorder to just about anything you can imagine. It grips onto a tree branch, a car door, anything, and it's bendable, wrappable, grippable, and best of all, it’s portable.
Solar Rolls
If you are out biking the trails or hiking in the great outdoors, but still want to power your cell phone, camera, or gaming system, lugging a generator just ain't possible. Instead, recharge your devices with power from the sun. These rugged, flexible, waterproof panels can be rolled up and tucked away in your backpack for when you need it.
360 Electrical's Plug and Turn
Here's a two-plug wall outlet whose receptacles rotate in any direction and maintain power even while being rotated. Each receptacle has 18 click stops around the full 360° rotation, giving you room to plug in bulky wall warts or oversized plugs with ease. It fits into a standard-sized electrical box, and has a nice-looking snap-on screwless wallplate.
iJoy
After a full day of being hunched over a keyboard writing for the man, or spending all day on your feet slaving away for the troglodytes of the world, you need a nice relaxing massage. Check out the iJoy. This is a comfortable chair that also has several different massage settings to help you unwind at the end of the day. I have the iJoy 130 and it is a dream.
