With that announcement, users believed they would see a downloadable version sometime following. OCTOBER 18, 2002 Here’s the third week of weekly freebies from the kind fellows at Digital Media Online. These hep cats have been working round the clock and this week present you with a series of custom shapes for Adobe Photoshop. Instead of some of today’s traditional custom shapes, these shapes take you back to the days of yesteryear before the word astronaut was conceived, duck and cover was still the best way to protect yourself from nuclear fallout, and Ike was in the White House. This collection contains 20 retro shapes (Stephen’s Retro) to use however you want Daddy-O. |

NOVEMBER 06, 2002 While a great deal of time is spent talking about how to improve an image during post production, very little time is spent talking about way to improve the image at the source - through the camera lens. You could spend some time tweaking the internal settings of the camera, but a better way might be to use a filter. |

April 6, 2003 I’m dreaming. How do I know? Well it isn’t every day that I am hanging around with beautiful go-go girls and winning big money in Vegas. Steve Jobs is sitting next to me showing me the latest from Apple. Suddenly Elvis walks in and hands me a phone. I listen to the receiver. There is silence for a moment, then the voice on the other end says, “Wakeup!” |

April 6, 2003 Charlie White and I ran over to the Hard Rock Casino to check out Avid’s Press Conference. I wrote on Friday that Avid would probably be showing off their latest HD stuff. They did that and more. |

May 2, 2003 Neo, Wolverine, the little cartoon fish, Johnny Depp in dreadlocks, the big green guy, Arnold from the future, Sean Connery in that comic book movie, that OTHER comic book movie, Sinbad (not that Sinbad, but the other one), the angels, Lara, and of course Bill. The geekiness in the air is so thick you can cut it with your Wal-mart special limited edition light saber. Why all the excitement? Everyone in Hollywood is banking on this season to be THE season for making a comeback. And it begins TODAY! |

|
April 2, 2004 A few weeks ago, someone asked about what they should expect when they attend NAB for the first time. Here are some pointers, plans, and suggestions for NAB newbies to get the most out of their first convention. |
|
|
April 18, 2004 Looking at the NAB website, one would get the impression that the show starts on Monday. For those that think that, you would be wrong. There are so many announcements many announcements made on Sunday, that getting here early really pays off. Here is a recap of my first day in Vegas(baby!). |

April 19, 2004 I ended up walking to the convention center from the Sahara today. Not to bad a walk, it is only about a half mile to the main floor, and the weather has been surprisingly nice this year. In fact, it seemed to be much warmer on the show floor than outside. The cause? Last year the LVCC had a very open show floor with park benches and wide open spaces for one to stroll along and relax. No such luck this year, the show floor is packed. |

April 20, 2004 In this installment, instead of running down my meeting list in order from start to finish, I’m going to go start with what I think are the coolest things I saw today. |

April 21, 2005 While this certainly is the year for HD and HDV, there are still many companies sitting back quietly and observing just what will become of it all. Many professionals know better than to buy a 1st generation product, but what about a product that waits to see what mistakes others have made before introducing there own solution? Canon seems to be one of those companies that have the “wait and see” approach, and that my work out in their favor. |
